Insurance
The City of Marion offers eligible employees group insurance programs that provide health, life, and disability coverage. The City offers medical, dental, and limited life insurance at no cost to the employee. In addition, an employee covered under the provisions of the group insurance program can enroll in voluntary vision, disability, cancer, accident, and/or supplemental life policies through payroll deductions.
SC Retirement System
The City of Marion is a participating member of the South Carolina Retirement System (SCRS) and Police Officers Retirement System (PORS). For more information, please visit the SC PEBA website.
Holidays
The following days are observed as holidays for regular full-time employees whose work does not require their being on duty: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the Day after Christmas.
Employee Safety and Wellness
The City of Marion is sincerely concerned about the safety and health of its employees and the public it serves, aiming to eliminate the suffering and cost of avoidable injuries and accidents. We place safe operations above operational expediency and comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other safety laws. The Safety and Wellness Committee organizes and coordinates safety programs and training classes and sponsors a Fall Health Fair for all City employees.
