Do you use the recycling bins on Bobby Gerald Parkway?  It’s a great way to keep Marion beautiful but…we need to recycle properly for it to matter.  The cardboard bin is just that, made specifically to accept our cardboard boxes.  Before you put your cardboard in the bin it needs to be broken down, that way we can fit more recyclable cardboard inside.  The rest of the bins are for separated items; glass, plastics and paper. No household garbage or construction materials, televisions or tires are permitted in the recycle bins. Contamination ruins the entire load.  When people throw in things they shouldn’t the entire load must be dumped at a landfill.  It cannot be accepted at the recycling center. Leaving non-recyclable items is considered littering and the fine for that is $1,092.50.  All unwanted garbage should be taken to the Palmetto Hardwood Recycle Center located at 2631 Senator Gasque Road, Marion SC.  Call the Palmetto Hardwood Recycle Center at (843) 423-8284 for hours of operation.  Let’s work together to keep Marion beautiful!!
