Employee Awards Banquet 2019

The City of Marion hosted its annual Employee Awards Banquet at Woodhaven on Tuesday, March 19th. A delicious meal was served and many door prizes were awarded. A number of employees were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the City of Marion and its citizens. 5-Year Service Awards went to Sgt. Bobby Davis, Police Department; Ethan Brown, Fire Department; Vondell Roberts, Public Works; Councilmembers Joseph Frazier and Emerson Hunt; and School Crossing Guards Aundry Bowens, Ernest Conner, and James Washington. A 10-Year Service Award was presented to Lt. Bessie Gause, Police Department. Councilmember Ronald Atkinson was recognized for 15 years of service. A 20 Year Service Award went to Winkie Fore, Public Works Superintendent. Michael Baker was recognized for 25 years of service on City Council. Also honored was Captain Cindy Barr on her retirement from the Marion Police Department.

Fire Chief Trey Cooper presented the Firefighter of the Year award to Jimmy Collins. Lt. Marilyn Rogers was named Police Officer of the Year by her peers and Municipal Court Clerk Heather Evans received the 2018 Chief’s Award from Police Chief Tony Flowers.

Personnel/Purchasing Director Elizabeth Gray was named Employee of the Year. The Azalea Garden Club and Daphne Garden Club were presented the 2018 Public Service Award.

Congratulations to all of service award recipients and thank you to all City employees for their hard work and dedication to the City of Marion.
