Summer Camp Educational Week 2018
The children attending the City of Marion Summer Camp had an exciting and educational week during July 17th – July 19th as they visited Wildlife Action in Mullins, SC. They learned about the history of Wildlife Action, how they acquired the campground, and all the different programs they offer. The children enjoyed activities such as canoeing and archery shooting, gun safety, and they each had the opportunity to shoot a 22 shotgun. They were also educated about different types of birds, fish and snakes, and learned how to tell the difference between snakes that were poisonous and not. Some of the campers were brave enough to touch some of the snakes. They learned about various other wildlife during a presentation on animal identification, which included a fun trivia game. The educational week was truly an amazing experience for the children. Special thanks to Mayor Ashley Brady for arranging the educational week, and to the awesome instructors, Mr. Frank Oliver, Ms. Holden Gasque, Mr. Justin Oliver, Mr. Tyler Wright, Noah Earnest and Katelyn Oliver. We cannot thank them enough for their hard work and dedication to the conservation, preservation and restoration of our natural resources. Additional thanks to the Marion County Healthcare Foundation for their generous donation and continued support and involvement within our community.
