Marion Fire Department

Firefighter / Engineer

The Marion Fire Department is accepting applications for a Career Firefighter. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, and have a valid SC driver’s license. In addition, applicants must be Firefighter II certified or willing to attend the SCFA recruit school. All qualified applicants will pass a written exam, a physical agility test, and an interview. Applicants selected for hire will also have to pass a SLED background check, drug test, and a medical physical as a condition of employment. The Firefighter will, under general supervision, respond to fire and other emergency calls and perform a wide variety of duties related to fire suppression to ensure public safety and welfare. The candidate must exercise sound judgment and safety precautions in all activities and work under stressful, high-risk conditions.

Marion Police Department

Class I Officer - Patrol

Under regular supervision, performs uniform patrol duties, including responding to various types of calls, patrolling assigned areas, performing investigative operations, serving warrants, and performing other general law enforcement duties. Marion Recreation Department

Summer Lifeguard

The City of Marion is currently accepting applications for Summer Lifeguards to work at Grice’s Recreation Center Pool. This seasonal position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of all pool guests while helping to create a fun and orderly recreational environment for the community.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Patrolling the pool area to monitor guest activity and identify safety concerns
  • Rescuing swimmers in distress and administering first aid as necessary
  • Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled hours
  • Treating the pool with the appropriate amount of chemicals and performing general maintenance
  • Maintaining a clean and safe pool environment
  • Monitoring weather conditions and responding appropriately to ensure guest safety
  • Enforcing pool safety rules and regulations at all times
  • Directing swimmers out of the water during dangerous or inclement weather conditions
  • Organizing and overseeing pool parties and special events
  • Handling admission fees and accurately accounting for monies received

Qualifications:

  • Must hold (or be able to obtain) current Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work evenings, weekends, and summer holidays as needed
